Dog Training

The Rotorua Dog Obedience Club runs classes in basic Dog Obedience, Canine Good Citizen, Competition Obedience, Rally-O, Agility and Fly-gility.

OVERVIEW OF OUR DOG TRAINING CLASSES
Pet Dog Beginner Obedience Class	8 week course (Wednesdays)	For dogs 14 weeks and over (must be fully vaccinated) Basic obedience and socialisation. Handlers and dogs will learn how to ‘heel’ without pulling, sit, lie down, stay and come when called.	$100*
Competition Obedience Classes	8 weeks per term (Wednesdays)	Two or more levels, depending on the needs of dogs and handlers. Elementary / Special Beginner level is for dogs that have completed the Beginner obedience course. Ongoing course. Senior level caters for dogs and handlers who are training for Novice or Tests A, B or C. Ongoing course.
Canine Good Citizen Class	8 weeks per term (Wednesdays)	For dogs that have completed a Beginner Obedience training course, and who wish to further their basic training. Ongoing course.
Rally-O Class	8 weeks per term (Tuesdays)	For any dogs that have completed a Beginner Obedience training course and who have a good understanding of controlled heel work and other basic commands. Ongoing course.
Agility Class	8 weeks per term (Thursdays)	For dogs 12 months and over, that have completed a Beginner Obedience training course.
Fly-gility Class	8 weeks per term	For dogs 12 months and over, that have completed a Beginner Obedience training course.

* This fee includes complimentary membership for the remainder of the Club’s financial year (to 31 March next).

New members wishing to join one of our other classes: Canine Good Citizen, Competition Obedience, Rally-O, Agility or Fly-gility should contact us to join. Membership costs $70 per annum, plus training fees which are paid at the start of each term.

MEMBERSHIP SIGNUP

Basic Obedience We provide training and handling skills for dog owners who wish to have well socialised, well behaved and well trained dogs. Owners will gain more control over their dog with basic obedience and socialisation.
Canine Good Citizen The emphasis with CGC is to ensure that your dog will be a respected member of the community because it is trained to act with good manners in the home, in public, and in the presence of other dogs.
Agility Agility is a fun activity using a range of agility equipment - jumps, tunnels, weave poles, A-frame, seesaw, and dog walks. Agility is fun and is great exercise for dog and handler alike, as they learn skilled control to negotiate a course containing a variety of obstacles.
Fly-gility Fly-gility is a dog sport that mixes elements of agility and flyball. The dog is sent away to fetch a ball from a flyball box while navigating tunnels, jumps and weaves before returning the ball to the handler.
Rally-O Rally-O is a sport which contains elements of obedience and agility. The course has numbered stations with a different exercise performed at each station. Courses can include cones and jumps as well as turns, sits, downs and recalls.
